Every January, our team has to make a robot to best master the year’s game in 6 weeks before our first district competitions. Our performance at those can qualify us for district state championships, and there we can qualify for World Champs in Houston TX.

Our team competed in the 2026 game, Rebuilt, with Octane. This robot is designed to be able to shoot “fuel” (foam balls) into the hub from anywhere on the field. Octane has gone through several iterations, initially being designed as a taller, “bump only” robot, but was redesigned after our competition at glendale. Our intake was also redesigned from a breakable “slapdown” intake, to a motorized rack and pinion, letting fuel be pushed into the shooter more eficiently, an operation we nicknamed “elephantiasis”.

Named after the octopus “Dave” from “Penguins of Madagascar” this robot is designed to be able to score coral (PVC pipes) onto all levels of the Reef’s poles and algae into the low processor and the sky high barge with precision and speed. It included an all purpose end effector capable of intaking and scoring Coral as well as collecting Algae from the Ground and Reef as well as Scoring in the Barge and Processor. Reach to the surfaces of the ocean being 3rd place at the San Diego Regional

Our team competed in the 2024 game, Crescendo, with Octave. This robot is designed to be able to shoot “notes” (foam rings) into the speaker from anywhere on the field, and the amp when close up. Octave has gone through several iterations to improve on the reliability of the robot in compeition. Our intake went below the bumper to avoid defense and simplify the intaking process as to not get stuck atop notes. The shooter was integrated with the climb to be able to score the notes, in the Amp, Speaker, and Trap.
