Mission
To engage and inspire students to become science and technology leaders and innovators by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs and competitions that build business, science, engineering, and technology skills.
To be deeply involved in the design, fabrication, assembly, programming, and presentation of our robots. This provides relevant, hands-on engineering experience. In addition, Team Octobots students are responsible for the business operations entailed in building a robot, including logistics and fundraising.
To promote STEM education in the community. Team members have presented and demonstrated our robot to local schools and community fairs.

What is First?
FIRST, an acronym for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology,” is an organization founded by Dean Kamen devoted to inspiring young people to be leaders and innovators in STEM.
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school competition that pairs students with mentors and corporate engineering sponsors to give them hands-on experience building a robot that will eventually compete in a sport-like event against other teams. The themes and rules of each competition vary from year to year but typically involve a shooting aspect and a mobility challenge. Students have the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors and go through the real-world process of designing and programming a robot. Visit this website to find out more about each year’s unique game and set of rules.
